Before we see how this couple (who has been sharing lives for about 10 years) decides that it is time to celebrate their union in the most elegant, classic and sincere way; Before we focus on the real subjects of this post, I wanted to share a bit of my personal experience about this wedding and what it meant for me.
Since I moved to Tulsa last winter, I’ve been working to re-establish my photography business. After 14 years of being a photographer in Kansas City, knowing everybody in the industry, having a network of people I can trust and that trust me as well, I am all of a sudden the new guy again. I had to start from scratch. Luckily, I have the most supportive of family, friends, and the sweetest fiance a guy can dream of. Still, it felt like I had to re-learn the meaning of words like: dedication, perseverance, hard work. So when I was shooting this wedding I wasn’t only focused on catching moments, connections, gestures and pretty light. I was also extremely grateful to be shooting my first wedding in Tulsa. And when the couple, at the end of the reception, made a toast to celebrate their new beginning, I made a toast to myself as well, to new beginnings (of course I didn’t really do that; drinking on the job would have been unprofessional – ha!).
