Melissa, high school senior photography

With Melissa we arranged one of our best selling packages: a 2 sessions studio and location. First we met at the studio for some portraits with artificial lighting.

Here she is again, this time on my fabulous corner area. I know I’m partial, but it’s becoming my favorite spot to shoot in the studio, so versatile.

Then I drove to her parents house where we had some fun by the pond.

She made me climb up the roof! Actually it was really low, I’m being a big baby.

Her bedroom. If you have teenagers in your house you know their rooms can be pretty interesting. In this case I was captured by the light coming from the window.

The golden hour! I have a set of great images we took right at sunset. This is just one of many. I kinda liked the flare I got and she looks great.

Regina and John’s wedding reception a the Kansas City Library

After shooting John and Regina’s wedding ceremony in St Louis it was time for more celebrations here in Kansas City. The beautiful reception was organized impeccably by Diane Boone of Arcadian Events and, needless to say, it was a great success.

Every detail was planned and perfectly put together on the terrace of the Kansas City Public Library.

The food was a collection of good eats prepared by Diane Boone and Bonterra Catering. It was not just pretty to look at, it was delicious!!

This was my personal arrangement; crab cake, grilled vegetables, thai skewers and a tiny little take away of asian noodles.

Right before the guests arrived, we had time for few portraits and a little stroll around the block. Perfect opportunity for a glass of wine.

Flower arrangement by The Blue Bouquet always spectacular. Then, a little pampering and some rest before the long day starts. I love the getting ready time, so many emotions going on, so much care for details, expectations and beauty. It’s great to be part of it.We went to the west bottoms, downtown Kansas City, to take some shots of them. The saw each other right in front of The Beast, one of the spookiest haunted house in town. Then, after some romantic moments we walked around for some fun shots. Here is me trying to get some sexy imagesMore romance under the overpass. Love this spot, such a great light. Also love the post production Jan did to the images. Lots of photoshop mojo flowing with creamy tones and layers of textures.

The reception was at the Hallbrook Country Club. The link to their website is actually pretty useless, unless you are a member already. The first hole was our spot for some sunset shots and for some refreshments after a long day. Who doesn’t like a cold dutch beer at the end of a long day? Some dancing and some fun during the reception.

Natalie and JT engagement session

We are going to shoot Natalie and JT’s wedding this September. The wanted to have an engagement session somewhere downtown Kansas City. We talked about options for locations so that we could give them the photography the expected. Eventually we ended up deciding for South West Boulevard and surrounding areas. I guess the lure of a cold margarita played an important role in the decision process.

Right after sunset we found this really cool alley we didn’t know about. I love how the sky got so gloomy and the only available light was a yellow light bulb above the doorway. I was shooting with my tilt and shift while Jan was using an ultra wide. The results are both dramatic and romantic at the same time. Really happy about how this engagement session turned out.
