We shot Aimee and Jesse’s wedding last year and now we are shooting their first family portrait session. I love this! It’s a relationship that was born a year ago and keeps on going. Fact is, we rocked at their wedding. I do believe though we did a great job with the little one too. Here are few of our favorite images.

We shot the Reed’s family in the studio. Pretty typical portrait session you may think. Mom, dad, 2 little boys and a brand spanking new little girl. Everything looks perfect. A little texture fun to add a vintage look and a classic portrait turns into a modern point of view on a happy family.

Then the boys started to acting their age and having some fun with dad.

Jack starts to perform and shows how many expressions the human face is capable of.

Senior and family photography

Kelly wanted some shots of her daughter for her senior pictures, but she also wanted some with her big sister and, since we were there, why not some with herself too? These are my favorite from the session. We got so many different poses and groupings.

I love when we can mix family photography with senior photography. It’s a chance to get some unconventional images we wouldn’t get otherwise.

We shot Brandon in our portrait studio in Lees Summit. We did different setups with both studio lighting and natural light. These are a couple of my favorites taken by the front door of the studio.

His mom also wanted some shots with his siblings. What a great idea. We have been doing that more and more lately. Senior photography time can be a great opportunity to ketch up with some family portraiture as well. Anyway, just around the corner from our studio there are some great spots for pictures. Here is the fire escape.

I love shooting the train station. I also like the presets that Jan has been creating for Adobe Lightroom. They totally fit my style of shooting, specially for back lit images.

The grain mill is always cool. We don’t really know how long we are going to have this old structure downtown Lees Summit, so I like to incorporate it in my photography any time I have an opportunity. It makes me feel like I’m preserving this memory for future generations. I know, I’m silly this way.

Engagement portraits at the river market

This is one of our favorite locations for any kind of session. River Market downtown Kansas City has much to offer in a combination of old and new that is pretty cool to discover every time we go there. In this case we did a combination of sessions. Dale and Kelly wanted some engagement portraits but also some family portraits. So, here we go with the family photography first, in some dark alley. Then we decided to walk to the bridge on the river. What a view. Then is time for some romance and the engagement session starts. The kids, if you are wondering, are eating some awesome food right around the corner..

Leah wanted some portraits of her family but she also wanted to make sure we had something to use on her website. She works at ZenZone, a new yoga place for kids and families right here in Lees Summit.

I think these guys are pretty energetic, don’t you? It’s got to be the yoga…
